A Muse to Someone - My First Blogger Award

Woo hoo y'all! I just got my first blogger award, from my dear pal Becky - apparently she finds me stylish (thank you love!)

I'm not one for long speeches since I don't like talking about how great I am, but I do love it when others talk about how great I am (just kidding folks. sort of. not really.) But I am honored to be given an award from someone who thinks I'm stylish, mostly because I never felt stylish until the past year or two.

Wait. I just realized that I have to talk about myself. Thems the rules of receiving this award. Can I just get seven of my friends to tell you something about me? No? Ok, fine. Here goes:

1. I'm naturally shy. This may come as a shock to those that know me, but put me in a room full of strangers and I'm more awkward than Molly Ringwald in Sixteen Candles. Yep. awkward. But, once I get to know you (or introductions have been made) I can't shut up. So be warned if you don't know me. If you like quiet types, perhaps we shouldn't meet.

2. I'm a cry baby. I cry at everything. Commercials on TV. Other people's engagement stories. Sappy movies. Basically, almost anything that elicits an "aww" reaction usually means I'm in tears. Even more tragic than crying at everything? I'm so embarrassed at crying at everything, that I will try to hold it in. That means my nose starts snotting up (yeah, sorry for that image) and I get a huge lump in my throat, which usually means a release and even more tears, which is even more embarrassing. Yet I continue to try this technique, assuring myself it will work this time.

3. I'm terribly afraid of heights. I'm not afraid to go up high places, but God almighty, I had better not look down. If I do, then I'm in trouble. If memory serves me, the Ghostbar in Vegas has a clear, plexiglass cutout in the middle of the balcony outside the bar that looks all the way down to the basement. I made the mistake one trip of standing on it and looking down. I'm getting panicky just writing that.

4. I failed out of college. I had such a good time partying my first year that I didn't make the grades and had to sit out the summer session, and went back on probation. I also had to take a class that taught me how to study (pretty ironic coming from someone who cried when I made a B in high school, right?) It wasn't fun, but I worked hard to make up for it, and I will make sure my future children don't repeat that mistake.

5. I dislike cupcake gifts. I make cupcakes on the side. I love making cupcakes. I do not, however, love getting cupcake-themed gifts. I'm so much more than cupcakes, and while I appreciate that people recognize my talent, I'm over the cupcake themed gifts.

6. I'm easy to please. It probably doesn't sound it, but my favorite gift from Stephen was when he threw me a surprise b-day party. It didn't cost much, but I'll never forget it.

7. I LOVE football. It's a southern thing to be sure, but Lord do I love football. There is nothing I'd rather do than spend my entire Saturday and Sunday sitting on the couch watching that game.

So there you have it. Thank you again to Becky for selecting me as a stylish blogger. I'm sharing the wealth with one of my all-time favorite style blogs, the Bon Bon Rose Girls. Kristin and Meg tempt me daily with drool-worthy fashion, so it's only right that I nominate them too.

Link Love - Ebates

I have to share a little link love today for a site I discovered through the Bon Bon Rose Girls (seriously, these ladies can single handedly be blamed for my online shopping addiction, ha!). The site is Ebates and is one of the greatest inventions ever!

Ebates lets you shop at most of your favorite online retailers, but the kicker (and this is the best part) is that you can earn cash back when you shop. Basically (as I learned reading about Ebates) retailers will pay sites a percentage of a sale for driving a customer to the site, so Ebates takes that money and puts it back in your pocket. How brilliant is that?!

I recently used Ebates to purchase my new running shoes, and earned 6% cash back buying shoes that I was already going to buy. So I can honestly say that it felt awesome to know that I was going to save even more money. And I've done some serious digging through Ebates and there are a ton of my favorite go-to stores - Ann Taylor, Ann Taylor Loft, Urban Outfitters, DSW - so it's likely you can shop at most of your favorite stores and get some serious cash back.

So as you start thinking about shopping for the holidays, consider Ebates. You'll be saving money while you shop (and who doesn't love that?)

And in case you need more inspiration, tonight is the #WeAreFashion Twitter Party that BonBon Rose Girls is co-hosting with Ebates, The Looks for Less and The Cheap Chicas Guide to Style! So if you're on Twitter (and I'm talking to you, Becky!) check out the #WeAreFashion Twitter Party tonight starting at 8 pm ET.

*Disclosure - I was not asked and did not receive any form of payment for this post. I'm just a girl with an online shopping addiction, and I feel better saving a little money to keep feeding my addiction.

Weekend Recap

Did y'all have a nice weekend? Boston experienced a really nice (read, really warm) weekend, so my race didn't go as well as I had hoped. My goal was to come in under :30 and I came in at 30:16. It's not terrible, but I'm already looking forward to my next race so I can beat my time.

After the race, I came home and took a much needed nap, and started getting ready for Pop.Bop.Shop's birthday party. All the ladies got dressed up and went to Cuchi Cuchi, one of my favorite restaurants in Boston. The room is dimly lit (think Red Light district) and the waitstaff wear outlandish, Gatsby-esque costumes. Seriously, I'd work there just to wear the fab outfits.

All the gorge girls

I was so stoked to wear the dress I got from Ladyee Boutique (thank you Bon Bon Rose Girls for pointing it out to me) and unfortunately did not get a photo (I'm horrible with remembering to pull my camera out) but I got tons of compliments on the dress. Here's to hoping someone else captured it on their camera, otherwise I'll be forced to rock it again! :)

After that, the weather turned cool and Sunday was spent cheering on Stephen's softball team (I went just to spend time with PBS again) in the drizzly rain. I think fall may officially be here (hooray for new outfits!)

Military Chic

Did you know that I was in ROTC in high school (and I had *brief* hopes of going to West Point?) It's true! Maybe it's that military background that has me craving the military trend this fall. Below are some items I've got my eye on.
The most perfect military coat in the entire world. I tried on this Burberry beauty back in July and immediately fell in love. Had the price tag not made me choke (only $1,500!) it might have been mine. I'm now on the quest for a similar style that won't break my bank.

Spied on Bon Bon Rose Girls, this VERY REASONABLE tunic from Tillys would be awesome paired with some dark jeggings and riding boots.

Are you inspired by the military trend this fall? If so, what are you eyeing?
