A Funny Engagement Story

Before you get all excited, no... it's not mine. Another person I know bit the dust over the weekend and the story was too funny not to share.

Sheila and Pat go to Newport every year, late in the summer, so she knew something was up when he wanted to go to Newport this weekend. Plus he had to "pick up something" from his parents house.

Fast forward to Newport.

Pat insisted on eating dinner at 5 pm and then going for a walk on these cliffs (forgive me, I don't know Newport and don't know if that's what it's called, but apparently it overlooks the ocean.) At the point of the cliffs, Pat started fumbling for the right words and Sheila interrupted him and said, "I think I know what you're about to do."

Ladies (and gents if you read this), she HIJACKED THE PROPOSAL! How funny is that? She felt horrible, but Pat laughed it off and proceeded with his proposal.

I love this story and it goes to show that no matter how it happens, whether really elaborate or hijacked by the fiancee, the proposal story is always fantastic.

A Very Long Trip

Just returned from a very looooong trip to Texas for my friend Ann's wedding.

We didn't make the wedding.

On Friday we left for the airport to make our flight and when we arrived there was a really long line. The A/A representative asked if we were going to Dallas or Miami, or somewhere else. Guess which line was the long one? You got it.

Thanks to a super storm cell, all flights to Dallas were canceled, which means we weren't getting to San Antonio. See, American Airlines' hub is in Dallas and all flights to anywhere else must go through Dallas. So we waited to rebook our flight. And we waited.

After waiting for 90 minutes we finally got through the line only to hear they had rebooked us for 2 pm on Saturday to get us to San Antonio around 8 pm on Saturday. Did I mention that Ann's wedding started at 4? Oh, and there's no way to get us anywhere near Texas until Saturday?

So it took about 30 more minutes of crazy routes for our agent to see that 2 direct flights to Dallas had been canceled on Saturday morning, and we could catch a connecting flight to San Antonio and make it there at 4 pm, which gave us time to make the start of the reception (although super bummed about missing the wedding.)

So at 6 am on Saturday I drove Stephen to the airport, drove home and hopped the T to catch my flight 2 hours after his. We caught an earlier connecting flight and arrived in San Antonio at 3:30. We quickly changed into our wedding attire in the airport bathrooms , then waited 30 minutes for our rental car's shuttle to pick us up (it never came, thank you Advantage Rent-a-Car). Thankfully Alamo had available cars, so we hopped their Shuttle and away we went. We walked in at 5 pm (cocktail hour for the reception) and had a great time.

I've never had to work so hard to get to a wedding, but it was so worth seeing one of my dearest friends get married. The bride was beautiful and the wedding was as fun as I imagined.

Pictures soon. Sorry for any typos, we hopped a plane back to Boston 22 hours after we arrived in San Antonio. I'm more than a little exhausted.

Ooh La La L'Apple

Oh joy! My favorite line for awesome dresses just launched a new line perfect for the upcoming summer.

Dubbed Ooh La La, the French-inspired line makes me want to pack up my beach cruiser and head to the Champs Elysees for an impromptu picnic. It didn't take long to pick my favorites.
Tuileries - this dress is my fave - it won't be long before it's mineLa Tour Eiffel - quintessentially French (but with pockets!)

Bonheur - the crisp white dress is perfect for a hot summer day
L'amour - Called love for obvious reasons. Who wouldn't love those little ruffles at the bib?

So what are you waiting for? Go check it out and find your fave.

Recap: Dallas

Here's the recap from our trip to Dallas for Becky's wedding
Kelly and me - Lance's b-day party (I'm exhausted - it's almost 1 am at this point)
On our way to the wedding - we clean up nice
In case you didn't know who we were
With the beautiful bride
Sole sisters (donning Manolo and Kate)
they clean up nice too
The beautiful cake (tasted good too). I know how to make that design.
Groom's cake. I got the piece that said "pot" and also picked up "end." Wished I had enough patience to get "ass."
The pot cake. Don't think I don't snicker every time I see this.

Post wedding - at Idle Rich with Rachel and Megan

With pal (and awesome host) Laurel

On the hunt: iPod

Don't laugh, but this is my iPod. It's the 1 Gen Shuffle and I paid $10 for it years ago. It went kaput on my recent trip to Dallas and I'm on the hunt for a new one. If I could get this version again I would (but alas, a search on eBay only has 3 and 4 gen), so I'm leaning toward a new iPod Nano. Only downside? They're pretty expensive (around $200.) I have a feeling I'll break down and get the Nano because the weather is gorgeous and I can't run without an iPod (it's a curse I tell you!).

Anyone have thoughts about which iPod I should get?
